The owner of a workspace has left.
Someone resigns, is let go, or dies, and the work they owned still has to run. Here is what you can do yourself, and when to ask us — nothing is ever deleted while this is sorted out.
Losing an owner never deletes anything, and neither does a plan ending. Tables, forms, apps and automations keep running exactly as they are. What stops is growth — adding new rows or people — and that resumes the moment ownership moves or the plan restarts.
Which applies to you
Transfer it yourself, immediately. Open the workspace, choose More → People in this workspace, then Transfer ownership. Give a reason — it is recorded in the audit log and shown to the outgoing owner.
Claim it, with a 7-day objection window. The workspace is frozen: everything in it stays readable and editable, but nothing new can be added. As an admin you can ask to become the owner. The current owner is told and has 7 days to object; if they do not, it becomes yours. Restarting the plan also stops it.
Ask us, and nothing gets cancelled. A live plan is attached to the current owner's payment details. We move ownership by hand precisely so the plan, the seats and the data all survive it — the workspace is not cancelled and nobody is charged twice.
Ask us. This is the most common case and it is not a problem: most workspaces have exactly one person in them, so a colleague who has left leaves nobody behind. Tell us who you are and what happened, and a person will work through it with you.
If you are asking us, tell us this
Handing a company's data to the wrong person is the one mistake here that cannot be undone, so a person reads every one of these. Each line below is something we have to establish before we can act — a request missing one costs a day.
Its exact name, as it appears in the product. Names repeat across customers, so this is what we match on first.
The email address the departed owner signed in with — not their work address, if they differ.
Their email address, and your own if it is someone else. Ownership moves to one person.
Your role at the company and what happened to the owner. This is the part a person actually weighs, and it is why this route is not automatic.
